Miracles at KJ’s bar

In the heart of the city, tucked between a forgotten alley and the bright lights of the boulevard, stood KJ’s Bar. It wasn’t a place for the faint-hearted. KJ himself, a gruff but kind-hearted man, kept things running smoothly. He’d seen all sorts in his time—punks, bankers, lovers, and liars—but nothing prepared him for the night Jesus walked in.

It was an ordinary Wednesday evening. The usual crowd filled the bar, but there was an electric charge in the air. The front door swung open, and in walked a man dressed in simple robes, sandals, and carrying a sense of calm that radiated through the room like a ripple in still water.

KJ wiped the counter with a rag, raising an eyebrow as the stranger approached.”Good evening,” the man said, his voice smooth, warm, and strangely familiar.“Evening,” KJ replied. “What’ll it be?”“A glass of wine,” the man said with a wink, “your best.”

KJ reached for a bottle from the top shelf, pouring the wine with a hint of curiosity. He slid it across the counter. “On the house,” KJ said. There was something about this guy—something otherworldly. The stranger smiled and took a seat at the bar. Within moments, a group of five women entered the bar, each one stunning, their laughter light as air. They took the stools next to him, drawn to the man without realising why.

KJ watched as they struck up a conversation. The man, who hadn’t introduced himself, spoke gently to each of them. The wine flowed freely, but no one seemed to get too drunk. Instead, the night took on an almost ethereal glow.

Hours passed, and KJ noticed something strange—something impossible. The women, laughing and chatting with the man, began to glow. Not in a literal sense, but there was a brightness to them, a joy that shone through their eyes, as if they were radiating life itself.

The bar quieted. All eyes were on the group, though no one dared interrupt. The women leaned in closer to the man, enraptured by his words. KJ couldn’t hear everything, but he caught snippets—words about love, faith, and the mystery of creation.

As the night came to a close, the women stood to leave, smiling softly at the stranger. “Thank you,” one of them said, almost reverently, her voice filled with awe.He smiled in return. “Go in peace,” he said, and with that, the women left, a strange glow still about them.

The bar returned to its normal hum, but KJ couldn’t shake the feeling that something extraordinary had just happened. He poured himself a shot, eyes flicking to the man.“So,” KJ said, trying to sound casual, “you gonna tell me who you are?”

The man looked at him with a knowing smile. “I think you already know.”KJ swallowed hard, his hands tightening on the glass. “Jesus?” he whispered, disbelief tinging his voice.

The man nodded once. “In the flesh.”KJ let out a long breath, trying to process the information. “What did you say to those women?”Jesus glanced toward the door where the women had left. “I simply told them the truth—that love is the most powerful force in existence. And that miracles come in many forms.”

KJ furrowed his brow. “And now?”Jesus leaned back, a peaceful look in his eyes. “Now they carry that truth with them. Miracles, KJ—they happen every day.”

KJ felt a chill run through him. “You mean they’re…?”Jesus smiled again, that serene, timeless expression never leaving his face. “Like Mary,” he said simply, “but each in their own way.”

KJ stood there in stunned silence, unable to find the words. He looked at the wine glass, now empty, and back at the man who had just turned his world upside down.“

Take care of them, KJ,” Jesus said, standing to leave. “They’ll need support in the days ahead.”With that, he walked out the door, the sound of his sandals softly fading into the night.

KJ stood frozen behind the bar, wondering what kind of story this would turn into. He reached for the bottle of wine and poured himself another drink, shaking his head as he muttered, “Well, that’s one for the books.”
